Wordless Wednesday – The X Factor

by , posted on September 8th, 2010 in Wordless Wednesday

X will be 18 months on Friday. If he makes it. He’s been doing some really crazy stuff the past few days that has made my heart beat a little faster. For instance:

Yes. See that ladder? He climbed on up and settled in. While I was in the house. The real house, not this play house. I don’t think he had an exit strategy. And anyway, he was too busy playing with his sister’s Polly Pockets to worry about stuff like that.

He also likes to do stuff himself. He don’t need no stinkin’ help. So he grabbed a box of cereal from his brother and…

Hey, at least he’s using a plate!

I must say there’s nothing like hearing your daughter shriek “Xander’s in the sink!” and then realizing the girl is literal. THE BOY CLIMBED IN THE SINK!

My favorite part was when he picked at some leftover toothpaste in the sink and ate it. YUM!

You’d think that, since he’s my third child, I’d know what to expect. Even though I’m aware all kids are different, he still completely freaks me out surprises me every day. Which keeps me young, right? Or ages me rapidly. Thing is, he’s also incredibly sweet: he climbs into his sister or his brother’s bed, pulls the comforter up, puts his head on the pillow and pretends to snore. He’s also starting to give kisses to everything – even a cracker.

Makes me wonder what he has planned next…

So I’m really excited because my blog was nominated (in THREE categories, I think!) for the Just Spotted OC blogging awards. There are TONS of excellent blogs in there, including some of my faves Momfluential and Angry Julie Monday. If you’re so inclined, I’d love to have your vote! The polls are open until Sunday at midnight. There’s also a cute little button on my sidebar (that sounds kinda dirty, I’m not sure why) that has the link on it. Thanks, y’all! xo

My son is the same age and Oh Em Gee!!! Thank goodness he’s not as brave as your little guy. I’d have to follow him around 24/7 and who has time for that? I do love the idea that he used a plate for his cereal. Classic!

Hey, congrats!! I can sympathize with your frustration, my first-born was much more of a climber/mischief-maker than my second. She made me bonkers.

We can so relate. Claire is the exact same way. Dieter often jokes if Claire would have been our first instead of our third child, there was the good possibility she would have been our only child. Yesterday I found her on top of the kitchen table! And today she is sporting a lovely fat lip from her latest daredevil antics.

One week he got a fat lip four times! He hasn’t attempted the kitchen table. Yet.

Reminds me of my 18 month old… always silently getting into mischief when he thinks no one is looking. But hey, at least he uses a plate. Mine likes to eat cereal straight off the floor. Yuck.

Wow! OC has great bloggers (who knew?)!

X is totally adorable. He sounds a lot like my daughter. At that age, she’d climb onto or into anything. Which was odd, since she didn’t start walking until 19 months! But she was a great climber! LOL

I would totally climb up that ladder to play with Polly Pocket too. I have a feeling I’m headed for the same heart-stopping daredevil-ness (yes that’s a real word…shut-up) Pie has shown no fear of mortal danger yet. I’m scared. Hold me.

My third has definitely broken me. She’s crazy. And a screamer. So much for the whole “after you get used to two, everything is easy after that.” Whatever. The girl challenges all of my abilities, every day.

I so know how you feel. Cooper thinks he is as old and big as his brothers so he just tries to do what they do…trouble! AND he totally wants to do it all himself, including walking up the big cement steps by himself…and of course he bailed and was falling so I grabbed his arm to yank him up to save him from cracking his head open and instead I dislocated his elbow…yes I have been nominated for mother of the year.

It’s so cool here in CT today, it’s like really truly fall. Jealous??? :) I’ll send pics.

    Lots of yummy love,
