Wordless Wednesday – I have a name!

by , posted on November 24th, 2010 in Wordless Wednesday

X has said “DaDa” for a long time. He still says it, which is funny, because the other two skipped over it and just said Daddy.

X doesn’t make the “ee” sound. He says “bird” and not “birdie.” “Dog” and not “doggie.”

Really, he doesn’t say much we understand.

Which is frustrating. For all of us.

Especially because he didn’t call me anything at all.

When he woke up in the morning or after his nap, he’d just yowl until I came in to get him. If he wanted me any other time, he’d just come over and grab my hand or shout abada! or deh! deh! at me.

But just in the past week, he has decided to call me something.

I never thought I’d be so excited – to be known as “Baba.”

He will point outside and yell “aht!” and I will say, “out?” and he will reply “Baba!” because he wants me to go with him.

He’s very pleased with this development. VERY pleased.

As am I.

Anyone can be Mommy.

But me? I’m Baba.

FYI: If you get my feed in your Google Reader you might notice I’ve gone to a partial feed. I swear it’s not to get you to click over for traffic. It’s to stop something called “blog scraping” in which bots steal content. I hate partials but I hate thieves even more.

Baba? Well, at least you have a name. Our oldest refused to say dada or any form of it for a long time. He could speak in sentences but would just laugh when my husband would try to get him to say it. And I laughed too b/c I’m mean like that.

I have heard of blog scraping. Guess I should change, too.

Baba, that’s wonderful! I loved those years with my girls. In the last few days the girls keep asking me to talk how they used to talk when they “were little girls.” I loved the way the R was a W – there was something so darn cute about that. I miss it. Enjoy your Baba days. They won’t last long!

So very cute…and what a cutie pie.
Maddy said Dada first but now her favorite word is Mommy and it ain’t all that. Especially at 3am! and again at 5am and then when Daddy wants her to brush her teeth.

But the sweet words…oh. It will break my heart when she says “please” instead of Peah and Kitty instead of ‘titty.”

Deaglan didn’t say Mummy till he was well over 1. I felt so sad about it (being a first time mom). Naveen just starting saying da, da, da. Of course my husband has swooped in and decided he’s saying daddy. This time around I know, they may not have a word for me but they definitely know who I am. What an awesome picture of X!

    Baba! your kid rocks!
My youngest never called me mama, he went straight to mommy, probably because he hears the oldest… it made me really sad and I might have even been slightly traumatized when my oldest called started calling me mommy … I LOVED being called mama.
Weird how emotional we can get over something like this? I was honestly devastated.. :(
