Look who’s talking

There was an explosion at our house this weekend.

Not the kind that requires a hosing off in the bathtub.

This one brought tears of joy to my eyes. Blinding, beautiful tears of joy.

My baby. My sweet, severely speech-delayed X. Has decided to talk.

To really talk.

Monday, at speech therapy? The SLP told me that if she didn’t know it was X, she’d think it was a completely different child than the one she saw last week. It was that amazing.

And I’m over at Sluiter Nation today to tell you all about what got it rolling. So please come by – it’s VERY happy times at the Pants House!

I look at his face, red, now, with snot and tears and drool all mixing in to one big frustrated mess.

He wants so much to tell me.

Even more, he wants me to understand.

Mommypants Moment – A soft place to land

Today’s Mommypants Moment is brought to you by Gigi of Kludgy Mom. Have you ever met someone and keep saying “ME TOO!” after everything she says? Yeah. That’s Gigi and me. We call each other “twin” and when we met in person a few months ago it just reaffirmed how alike we are. So I am thrilled to feature her today, and if you haven’t stopped by her blog, you are missing her kick-ass content that never fails to make me laugh, sigh, and most important, think.

I put on my mommypants a little bit late.

And I don’t mean late as in I was 35 when I had my first child…even though I was what they call a ‘borderline geriatric pregnancy.” So maybe this post should be called my Depends Moment. But I digress. (more…)
