It’s time

It is Friday night and I’m sitting here scratching.
I’m covered in welts and miserable and had to take the antihistamines I’d stopped the past two days because they make me feel like I’m underwater. All. The. Time. Tough to run 10 miles like that.
So the kids are finally all in bed and I thought I’d be trying on outfits right now. Because tomorrow is the day I’ve looked forward to ever since I booked my flight a month ago and of course I want to look cute. That, and it’s been ages since I’ve had a chance to get a little dolled up without worrying about X putting a mouthful of chewed cookie on my leg. (more…)

The gift of red

My amazingly talented and brilliant and wonderful friend Lori from In Pursuit of Martha Points wrote this beautiful and poignant post the other day about the death of her friend’s mother.
And in the post she talked about an incredible gift this woman gave her when Lori was 18 and about to leave for college.
It was a box containing three pairs of vibrantly red underwear, because, she told Lori, “No woman should go off to college without red underwear.” (more…)
