Wordless Wednesday – Dance Fever

Wednesday, August 18th, 2010

I had a dream come true when I was in New York City and I got to dance on the giant keyboard at FAO Schwarz – yes, the one Tom Hanks played Chopsticks on in the movie Big (for you young ‘uns, that was the movie where he was a child in a grownup’s body and he got a job reviewing toys. You can find the movie on NetFlix. Go watch it. But not before you watch this. Because then you’ll get all into the movie and you’ll forget to come back here and see my Big moment. So do it after.). Make sure you have the volume up so you can hear the evaluation of my little ditty.

Then Sage got to begin a dream when she learned to dance like a Rockette. Only they didn’t do the high kicks where it looks like they’re going to boot themselves in the face. Because the Rockettes only do that at the shows where you buy tickets and this was just a free thing at Macy’s (and if you spent $50 at Macy’s that day you got two free tickets to their Christmas show in Orange County this December. Guess who bought $50 worth of Hello Kitty shirts and plaid kilts with matching knee socks?). It was actually fun and the Rockettes were really nice. Sage said she wants to be a Rockette when she grows up. It’s good to have goals, don’t you think? Anyway, she is the one wearing a turquoise skirt, a brown tee and has a polka dot headband in her hair (her homage to Angry Julie Monday).

And last, but not least, it wouldn’t be “Wordless” Wednesday without some pictures of X eating. Today’s featured food is X’s first push up.

Blowing bubbles

Sometimes I’m grumpy.

I know you’re stunned. But it’s true. I’m grumpy, and I just want to curl up in my bed with a pint of Coffee Heath Bar Crunch and the remote.

But I have these three creatures who apparently need to be, you know, fed and stuff. One even needs a diaper change occasionally. They demand I play with them and take them to the pool. Also? They will try to eat my ice cream and I don’t like to share.

So I have to shake off the funk like the June gloom that’s hanging around here these days.

Here are 10 things that make me happy, in spite of myself: (more…)
