Puppy love

Sunday, I took Sawyer with me to the shelter. There were some new dogs and we wanted to be the first ones there to get a look at them. And this is who we found.
We called home and David packed up Sage and Xander and they came down to take a look. The little guy was tough to resist. All brown and fuzzy with amazing blue-green eyes. And? Puppy breath.
We all fell in love. And Tuesday afternoon, he came home. Right now, as I type, he’s fast asleep in my lap. I know it’s going to be a very long night. But they’re only babies for a short time, right?
His name is Welker, after New England Patriots receiver Wes Welker. Who also happens to have blue eyes. Welker (the dog) is a true mutt. His mother, who gave birth at the shelter, is a mix of maybe lab and shepherd and who knows what else. He will eventually fit in well with our other mutt, Gable. Right now Gable is teaching him that if he jumps in Gable’s face, Gable will bark at him. Welker gets the message. For at least five minutes.
So basically Welker has the attention span of my kids. He fits in perfectly.
