Mommypants Moment

by , posted on October 4th, 2010 in Mommypants Moment

Okay, I’m really excited about something.

I hope you will be too. If you’re not, though, could you keep it yourself?

I have a scarily fragile ego.

Actually, I don’t. But still.

So I’ve been wanting to do a weekly feature in this space. It’s not that I’m lazy. Well, maybe that’s part of it.

Seriously, one of the best parts of blogging for me has been the amazingly talented women I’ve met along the way. They’ve inspired me, made me squirt my drink out of my nose and they’ve made me cry. Mostly, they’ve made me think.

I know you come here to hear my voice. But sometimes, that voice gets hoarse with use. And I find myself not always giving everything I want to to each post. Apparently I have three little kids, including a toddler who demands, you know, I pay attention to him every waking moment.

So often I’m up way too late blogging, because the only free time I have is after the kids go to bed (they’re still up at 8:30 as I type). And I’m trying to run several days a week and that involves getting up at 5 a.m. to go four or five miles and get back hopefully before the kids get up.

Which brings me to this: My weekly feature is called Mommypants Moment. I will ask guest posters to write about what that means to them, whether it’s a time they had to be the grown-up when they didn’t really want to, or maybe a funny story about being a mom.

I don’t give up space on here lightly. My goal is to bring you posts from bloggers I admire. Some you will know, some you may not. But I hope you will love reading them.

Also, I will at some point do a meme where you can write a post of your own and link up. I’m sure I will rustle up some sort of prize, too! That’s right – I said prize! Who doesn’t like prizes? No one, that’s who!

Ahem.

So look for the new feature coming your way soon!

In other news, I don’t like to send people away from my blog, but if you have a minute, check out the post by Kris of Pretty All True that is posted over at my other place, The Red Dress Club. She writes about description and mining childhood memories. And it’s awesome, as usual.

Great idea! I always like getting blog recommendations from bloggers I admire (like, say, Mrs. Mommypants herself) – I know if you enjoy their writing, I probably will, too.

I think you have a MAHH-VELOUS idea for a weekly feature, & a great way to ease your load…all by giving bak to others! It’s a win-win!!

how exciting. I love prizes. I will cheat though. It is ingrained in me, to do whatever it takes to win. It’s hereditary. It’s why my dad isn’t allowed (TO THIS DAY) to be the banker in monopoly.
