I hugged the Bloggess!

by , posted on August 6th, 2010 in BlogHer

I love the Bloggess.

As you all already know.

She sent me a nice note when I told her about The Red Dress Club and how it was inspired by her. I’ve heard nothing but nice things about her. She also is a freaking brilliant writer.

So today, at my very first BlogHer party, I was checking in and, right next to me?

Jenny Lawson. The Bloggess.

Oh Em Effing Gee.

So I was around huge sports stars my entire career and was pretty much “meh” about meeting them. I don’t get starstruck.

I mean, I didn’t get starstruck.

But this was the Bloggess!

I didn’t want to freak her out by being some crazy blog stalker. A blolker, if you will. However, I didn’t want to let the opportunity pass me by. She’s the only power blogger I wanted to meet and THERE SHE WAS!

So I said, “Hi, Jenny? I’m Cheryl from Mommypants. I have The Red Dress Club that we named after your post? And I totally love you and I think you’re, like, totally awesome!”

Okay, I didn’t say that last part. But that’s what I was, you know, thinking.

And she was all, “Yes! Hi! Nice to meet you!”

AND THEN

We hugged!

I HUGGED THE BLOGGESS!

I did not grab her ass or anything. Just hugged her and she’s adorable. Like, seriously you would not think she writes the way she does if you went by her looks. Naturally beautiful face. Hair in a simple ponytail (which, of course, is an extension, but still). Grey silky shirt. Jeans. SHE could totally be Pioneer Woman.

But I’m glad she’s not.

And I’m happy she was so sweet and genuinely flattered that she inspired a blog.

And she’s probably happy I didn’t grab her ass or follow her around for the rest of the night.

Because I totally wanted to. Follow her around, that is.

I congratulated myself on my restraint.

Did I mention I hugged the Bloggess? And? I’m sure she’s blogging all about it RIGHT NOW.

Cheryl, Doesn’t she give great hug? I spent the first hour of the People’s Party NOT at the party but in the bathroom next to it where Jenny was holding court. Really hysterical. Can’t believe first day of BlogHer has passed and I haven’t seen you yet! Seriously, dude, we have to find each other today. I’ll be at the newbie breakfast and etc. etc. Now to pack my kids lunches, wake them up & kiss them and get my behind back to the Hilton….

I am so feeling you, girl! Wow! I can’t think of anyone else who would totally thrill me to meet them like that, except of course, for Bono. But even then!

Have a great, great time. I’ll shoot that post over to you very soon.

I’ll be honest…I have no real idea what you are talking about. I don’t even really know what Blogher is…a conference? Are you required to pay to go? Why? What?
BUT nevertheless, you cracked me up in this post. I’ve been wanting to incorporate Oh Em Gee into my posts, but you’ve beat me to the punch. Bravo.

I’m so jealous about the whole BlogHer thing. By the time my blog got off the ground this year, it was too late to register. I’m headed to Bloggy Boot Camp in SFO this year, but will be registering for BlogHer ASAP when it opens for next year, for sure! Thanks for all the inspiration YOU provide my dear!

I wish I had of been at BlogHer. I didn’t go because I didn’t want to be lonely. How sad am I?! I know, I know, VERY! Anyway, I figure that if I would have been there then you may not have had this lovely experience to write about. Because you know, you would have been stalking me. Dumb Power Blogger Extraordinaire! I’d hate to be your blolker blocker.
